Ed and Jill share similar backgrounds. Both the youngest in their families, Ed and Jill were born in the Great Lakes region – Ed in Wisconsin and Jill in Ohio. Their families moved around some with Ed spending time in Kentucky and Jill in Michigan. Eventually their families wised up and moved to sunny Southern California, finally settling in Simi Valley.
A continual rivalry exists between Ed and Jill – Ed’s (class of 1979) Royal High School Highlanders versus their cross-town rivals, Jill’s (class of 1983) Simi Valley High School Pioneers. Fortunately they can both cheer on the Matadors of California State University Northridge (CSUN) as dedicated alumni.
Ed continued his education by earning a law degree at Pepperdine and pursued a career as a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Los Angeles. Jill currently works at the corporate university for Farmers Insurance in Agoura Hills, California.
Today they enjoy spending time with their dog (Packer); attending concerts, movies and shows; keeping up with current events and politics; community events and volunteering; traveling; playing cards; and watching sports (both live and televised). They stay active with both indoor and outdoor activities including gym memberships.
In 1996 Jill was invited to participate in a program called Leadership Simi Valley (LSV). LSV is a non-profit development program designed to build effective, local community leaders. The curriculum runs nine months and includes topics such as education, law enforcement, government, arts, and so on. Subsequent to graduation in 1997, she continued to stay involved in LSV by attending gatherings and graduations.
Ed joined LSV in 2002. Jill and Ed first met at an LSV function where they quickly became friends, which later blossomed into romance. Ed proposed to Jill on February 18, 2007 with a stunning, unforgettable surprise birthday party at Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion restaurant in Woodland Hills, CA, witnessed by close family and friends. Together they continue to support LSV and the community as a whole.
